Abstract: In our National and State highways number of overloaded heavy vehicle are moving frequently, which causes distress to the roads and bridges. There is an acute need to measure the moving loads to study the performance of bridges and roads under the increased moving loads. In the proposed project work a working model has been prepared to weigh loads and monitored through an Automated Remote Monitoring System. The similar technique can be adopted to monitor the moving load to assess distress on roads and bridges due to increased axle loads. The principle used in the project is the sum of the shear forces produced at both the end of a beam is equal to the load applied on the beam. The shear stress produced at both the end of the beam is proportional to the shear force at the end supports. Hence, by measuring the shear strain produced at both the end support of a beam through Wheat Stone Full Bridge Circuit one can weigh the applied load on the beam.
