Abstract: Waste water is generated by every day human activities and various industrial processes. If waste water is discharged untreated into water bodies it will result in large scale contamination of water sources and degradation of the eco-system. Several waste water treatment processes have been developed over the time. However, activated sludge process treatment of waste water is the oldest and still the most commonly used method. The activated sludge process is an aerobic treatment process which converts non-settleable substances in finally divided, colloidal and dissolved form into a biological floc or activated sludge. The activated sludge waste water treatment process is capable of producing an excellent effluent quality, but the performance of the plant is severely affected by characteristics of the influent, environment in the aeration basin and operating conditions within the secondary clarifier. Best way to monitor the performance of an ASP based treatment plant is to con...
