This discusses the control architecture for acceleration and deceleration process of a Dual Sator Induction motor (DSIM) that are used in EV applications. Dual Stator Induction Motor have two three-phase stator windings on a common rotor that provides high torque capability and increase the power density compared to the single stator induction motor. So, the DSIM motor is the best choice to use in electric vehicles because of its high starting torque, fast response and better performance. A control scheme which is designed for DSIM have the modelling using the d-q axis representation of the DSIM motor. The three phase motor variables in d-q axis is controlled separately that is the rotor flux and electromagnetic torque can be controlled separately. This approach helps an induction motor to have the same dynamic characteristics as separately excited DC machines but with independent rotor flux and torque control that can be controlled separately. To implement acceleration and deceleration of EV drives, the proposed control method is designed in such a way that it can control the acceleration and deacceleration of the motor. This control system offers fast torque production in acceleration stage to obtain the required speed and smooth reduction in speed during deceleration. In this paper, the machine configuration is discussed, mathematical model, control objectives, and drive implementation is also discussed. The advantages of the dual stator configuration are great torque capabilities, improved reliability, and better driving characteristics. Overall, the DSIM with field-oriented control satisfies the demanding specifications set for EV applications.en_US
