Abstract: While passive TMDs and their multi-tuned configurations (MTMDs) are useful for controlling structure vibration. Their application in RC buildings where structural undergrows yielding and stiffness deterioration due to high earthquakes, leads to the issue of detuning. Therefore, in the current study, an optimized double tune mass damper (2 TMD) system for nonlinear multi story RC frame is investigated using OPENSeesPy. Through parametric analysis using different mass ratio (from 1% to 10%) and locations, it is found that a mass ratio of 6% and location at the roof is optimum choice. Furthermore, the linear time-history analysis with eight different historical earthquakes shows that the optimized 2-TMD system has great immunity to moderate detuning and leads to displacement reduction varying between 19.79% and 68.27%. The results indicate that severe, irrecoverable yielding is prevented, and the structural load path is secured, and the possibility of total collapse is substantially reduced.
