dc.description.abstractThis research project delves into the intricate landscape of perceptions surrounding menstrual leave policies in India, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of societal attitudes, individual perspectives, and policy effectiveness. The study, conducted with a sample of 198 individuals, utilised a structured questionnaire distributed through popular social media platforms and personal networks. Beginning with an introduction to the topic, the research delves into the background of menstrual leave policies, highlighting recent trends and societal shifts regarding menstruation discourse in India. With increasing global attention on menstrual equity and workplace inclusivity, understanding public perceptions becomes imperative in shaping effective policy frameworks. The study assessed three primary dimensions of perception: individual, societal, and policy-related. Through nuanced inquiries, participants elucidated their awareness of menstrual leave policies, their efficacy in addressing menstruation-related needs, and societal attitudes towards menstruation. Furthermore, perceptions of policy impact on workplace dynamics and gender equality were scrutinised. Statistical analyses uncovered intriguing insights. While gender disparities were observed in perceptions of policy effectiveness, societal attitudes, and personal equality considerations exhibited no significant gender differences. Notably, professional status emerged as a significant determinant, with students, working professionals, and self-employed individuals showcasing varying viewpoints on policy effectiveness and societal support. 6 In conclusion, this research sheds light on the diverse and nuanced perspectives surrounding menstrual leave policies in India. By dissecting individual, societal, and policy-related perceptions, the study contributes valuable insights for policymakers, advocacy groups, and stakeholders in crafting inclusive and equitable menstrual leave policies. The findings underscore the importance of considering contextual factors, such as gender and professional status, in formulating effective policy interventions to promote menstrual equity and workplace inclusivity in India.en_US
