Abstract: This project looks at how strategic human resource (HR) practices can help companies in employee retention in the fast-growing IT industry of India. The research highlights how important HR policies are in retaining skilled employees, especially in the highly competitive job market. Over the last 10 years, India’s IT sector has played an important role in the country’s economic growth and has also helped in building its reputation in the global technological market. But even with this success, many companies are still struggling with the high employee turnover, especially those people who are in the early or middle stages of their careers. Attrition during this time can lead to project delays, an increase in cost in recruitment and training, and lower client satisfaction. This study looks at how different HR practices are influencing the employees’ decisions to stay or leave. The research focuses on 3 main areas:  Learning and development programs  Salary and benefits  Work-life balance To explore this study more, we used a mix of 2 methods  Survey  Interviews Surveys were done with 100 employees from IT companies and those who are working in the IT department, while six HR managers were interviewed to know their opinions. This approach has helped us to capture both the employees' and employers' points of view on the retention problem. 6 The result showed that flexible work options and career development are the main reasons employees are willing to stay in the company. On the other hand, lack of promotion opportunities are the reason employees are leaving the company. The study further highlights the importance of performance evaluation, competitive salaries, and employee recognition are the essential component in retaining the talent.
