Abstract: | In this study, we present the design and analysis of a mid infrared metamaterial absorber based on a metal dielectric metal (MDM) configuration. The unit cell consists of an outer frame featuring a top triangular section with a cut on the bottom left corner, an L shaped boundary along the sides and bottom, and a central rectangle with an H shaped cavity. Gold (Au) is used as the metallic material, while silicon carbide (SiC) serves as the di electric layer. The absorption spectrum was computed using the Finite Element Method (FEM) based COMSOL Multiphysics simulation software. The proposed design achieves over 98% absorption of incident light with a bandwidth of 0.7 µm in TE mode. Addition ally, the absorber demonstrates outstanding angular dependent absorption characteristics, maintaining over 90% absorption in the 3.7-4.2 µm wavelength range for incident angles (ϕ) and elevation angles (θ). These properties make the proposed absorber highly suitable for applications such as polarimetric sensing and infrared detection systems. |
