Abstract: This research paper provides an overview of the study on investor perception of green finance in India, which is becoming a priority for public policy. The study employed primary data analysis to understand the current state of investor awareness and perception of green finance in India. The research methodology involved a systematic review of the literature, emphasizing green bond market growth, the green deposit market, demand of sustainable mutual funds, green loans and the role of government in promoting green finance in the country. The key findings of the study highlight that while the majority of people are somewhat familiar with the term "green finance," they lack a clear understanding of its meaning, its potential impact and green finance instruments available in the market. Furthermore, the research suggests that green finance can play a crucial role in achieving sustainable development goals in India The implications of the study for the future of green finance and sustainable investment in India are significant. The research highlights the need for financial agencies, government and corporates to build a strategy through green finance to achieve sustainable development goals in India. It also emphasizes the importance of raising awareness and knowledge of green finance among the general public. The study provides a valuable contribution to the literature on green finance and sustainable investment in India, offering insights that can inform policy decisions and investment strategies to effectively achieve its obligation towards Paris Agreement of Net Zero Carbon Emission by 2070.
