Abstract

AGMARKNET is an initiative towards the globalization of Indian Agriculture by the Ministry of Agriculture under Government of India. The website provides detailed information on the agriculture marketing reform, marketing research, market profiles, prices, agricultural commodities, commodity arrivals, contracting farmers etc. Details of commodities and agricultural markets are provided. Consumers can benefit too as this will bring transparency in arrivals, curbing hoarding. The information that this portal provides is critical to all the stakeholders associated with agriculture. AGMARKNET aims to deliver correct and complete information to the farmers in order to strengthen their economic position. Farmers are the main stakeholders of this project. With effective use of this portal, the farmers can have an estimate of the prices of the commodity that they are going to sell in the markets. It tells them the prices of the commodity in detail such as arrival price of each and every day.
