In this Dissertation computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of Impact Stilling Basin has been done by modelling in Ansys Fluent (R15.0) software. Six different Models namely M-I, M-II, M-III, M-IV, M-V and M-VI have been modelled by changing the distance between the Impact wall and basin inlet , by changing the gap between the basin floor and impact wall. The distance and gap have been calculated in terms of Equivalent diameter‘d’. Values of Turbulent Kinetic Energy, Velocity, Wall Shear Stress at Outlet and Energy losses (Kinetic Energy &Specific Energy) have been calculated and compared to find out the best model for energy dissipation in culvert outlets, pipe outlets and open channels so that there is less chances of scouring downstream of these structures. Three cases of Froude number i.e. 1.85, 2.85 and 3.85 have been taken which results in total 18 cases for the analysis. The results obtained can be used to increase the performance of the USBR Type VI Impact Basin.en_US
