FACE DETECTION AND RECOGNITION METHODOLOGY USING VIOLA-JONES FACE DETECTION ALGORITHM AND PRESENTING ITS UTILITY IN AN ORGANIZATION

Abstract

The idea of this project is to make a computer application for automatically identifying or verifying a student from a digital image. One of the ways to do this is by comparing selected facial features from the image and a facial database. The system will record the images of the students over the span of lecture and send a message to the mobile phone of the faculty if someone is absent. The message will contain the roll number of the person that is absent. The main idea is to reduce the overhead of attendance. Professor will receive the SMS updates regarding attendance on daily basis. Thus providing a complete solution to the problem of attendance in a secure and reliable manner. The system also aims to be fast and free from errors and human effort.
