Abstract: Structural performance in linear and nonlinear region has been studied here, in capacity and demand format for a single storey 3-D frame. To perform linear analysis, Wilson θ method has been used and its application has been extended in nonlinear region too. The scaled El Centro Earthquake of various peak accelerations has been used to apply the lateral loads in the structure. This approach is similar to pushover analysis in which capacity of the structure is established by applying gradually increasing lateral loads. The above analysis has been done by bilinear idealization. Instead of applying gradually increasing static lateral load, scaled El-Centro 1940 EQ record of various scaled up/down peaks has been used to apply the lateral load at the centroid of the deck floor of the frame. In a way, we have done a push over analysis to establish the capacity of the structure. Capacity curve has been drawn in base shear and Top storey displacement format.
