Abstract: Lung Cancer is most common disease in the world. Computed tomography (CT) scanning is the best method to detect lung cancer. The aim of this project is to study how effectively the technique of image processing can be utilised in CT scan. A software application is developed by using MATLAB software to identify the real nodule and measure its various parameters. A 3D mesh of real nodules is developed by using Gaussian structure. A synthetic lung nodule is created by using certain parameters of the 3D mesh. This synthetic nodule is inserted into the CT image. The real and synthetic nodules are compared from its appearance and shape in the CT image and 3D mesh plot. It has been found that both the nodules appear to be similar. A number of synthetic nodules could be created by manipulating various parameters. The characteristics of various synthetic nodules could be stored as a database, which could be useful to the radiologist for ready references of analysing the Lung nodules.
