As (Filed programmable Gate Array) have become a competitive alternative for high performance DSP applications, previously dominated by general purpose DSP and ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) devices. This thesis describes the benefits of using an FPGA as a DSP Co-processor, as well as, a stand-alone DSP Engine. Different type of filters namely Low Pass, High pass, Band pass, Band stop filters have been designed and implemented to illustrate the possibility of designing digital filters on Field Programmable Gate Array without losing its desired characteristics and performances. The whole work has been done in two parts both in theoretical approach and practical approach. Finally, a comparison has been done with the conventional implementation approach to clarify the situation where we should use FPGA based technique.en_US
