Role of cement in the formation of concrete is of vital importance as no concrete can be formed without using a binder. It is the most important ingredient because its presence is necessary to achieve the most desirable property i.e. strength of concrete and the minimum of cement content is even more important for the concrete to perform during its life time that is for durability. In this project work it has been shown that how cement affects the strength property and in combination with water how it affects the properties of green and hardened concrete, further more how it can be optimized to achieve desired properties. Use of 12.5mm and down size coarse aggregate, along with Superplasticizer to reduce water cement ratio have been adopted to optimize the strength of concrete. These factors improve the specific surface area of coarse aggregate and reduce water cement ratio to achieve higher strength. Fine aggregate to coarse aggregate ratio is varied to improve the grading o...en_US
