dc.description.abstract | For any type of structure a foundation is required and hence soil-structure interaction is an inevitable problem, which has to be tackled. Most often for the analysis, as well as design purpose the linear soil-structure interaction is employed. But it is far away from reality. The actual situation seldom provides such as easy problem. In the present, work, the soil structure interaction has been studied taking the nonlinear behavior of soil. For this purpose, the Von Mises yield criteria has been employed. The foundation taken for the study is a footing of width (B=2.0 m) resting on the surface of clay in an undrained state subjected to centrally inclined loading. The finite element problem has been taken as a plane strain problem. The iteration for load settlement has been performed by a program written using MATLAB. The shallow foundation may be subjected to eccentric inclined load. For designing and proportioning such type of foundations, the main criteria to be considered are beari... | en_US |
