Abstract: Maintaining quality of concrete, used in the building construction, is of great importance. Though there is always a team of QA/QC engineers in any major construction activity, due to bad workmanship the quality of concrete may not be appropriate. Foundation is one of the most important parts of any structure. There may be great problems if the quality of material in that part lacks, especially in the high rise buildings. It becomes all the more important to explore the gravity of such a problem when the structures are subjected to a seismic activity. It is with this view that the effect of variation of concrete mix quality in the raft foundation portion of a structure on its earth quake response has been examined in this project work. For comparison, same storey stiffness and loads have been maintained & variations of member forces, storey shears and drifts have been considered.
