Abstract: In this project, a fuzzy controller for speed control of an induction motor (IM) using indirect vector control method has been developed and analyzed in detail. The fuzzy-logic speed controller is employed in the outer loop. The complete vector control scheme of the induction motor drive incorporating the FLC is simulated in MATLAB for a 50-hp squirrel-cage Induction motor. The performances of the proposed FLC-based IM drive are analysed and compared to those obtained from the conventional proportional-integral (PI) controller. The simulated results in different dynamic operating conditions such as sudden change in command speed, step change in load, etc are demonstrated through different waveforms. The comparative simulated results show that the FLC is more robust and, hence, found to be a suitable replacement of the conventional PI controller for the high-performance industrial drive applications. It is found that the proposed FLC is insensitive to temperature changes, inertia varia...
