Abstract: | One of the basic and significant problems, that a shop or a factory manager is encountered is a suitable scheduling of jobs on machines. One type of scheduling problem is job shop scheduling. There are different machines in a shop of which a job may require some or all these machines in some specific sequence. This report presents the simulation study of a job shop production system and role of buffers pull supply chain system through simulation software WITNESS-2006. Present studies of the system include three jobs to be processed in four different machines in given sequence. The model for the study is considered to find the number of parts shipped, % busy time, %idle time of the machines, distributors, retailers, customers in given time period and to minimum sizes of buffers required by the system. For this analysis we have run the model for 14400min for different customer requirement (I.e. deterministic, probabilistic requirement rate) taking 600min as warm-up period. Minimum size ... |
